After several exhausting hours of dealing with rebellious teenagers, a teacher could look forward to going home where he would snuggle into bed with a cup of hot chocolate at hand and a good movie or football game flickering in front of him before slowly dozing off into the night.
Now, four months later, he braces himself before entering his own house, expecting another couple of hours of wrestling with children, trying to bathe them, put them to bed, and keep them quiet. (more…)

Changing the nature of Nature

Last month, I briefly touched upon a subject other than pesticides; genetic engineering. But I hardly explained what it is so a lot of people were probably really confused. So, I extend my apologies.
According to Safe-Food.org, “Genetic engineering is a laboratory technique used by scientists to change the DNA of living organisms.”
Basically, genetic engineering is taking an organism and placing genes of another organism in it in an attempt to fix a “flaw” that the original organism has (hence, the fish DNA in your tomatoes). This, in turn, causes a plethora of unanswered questions as to how it will affect the world. (more…)

Many teens log on to their MySpace several times a day. But, how many log onto HayemYes.com regularly?
Just as Tom is known for designing MySpace, Ibraham Yeghaish (’08) is known for designing hundreds of websites. This hobby of his started at the age of thirteen. Living in Iraq, internet was banned by the government until 2003, which is what ultimately inspired Yeghaish to start his projects. (more…)
