Megrdichan soars towards his dream

The idea of ever being able to fly is a distant and implausible aspiration for many people, but ambitiously inclined senior Nareg Megrdichian has decided that paving his own way to reach the sky is within arms reach.
Megrdichian recalls having been interested in aeronautics since the young age of five, aroused by his father’s personal intrigue with airplanes. (more…)
Campus construction makes progress

During spring break, some teachers will be relocated to their renovated classrooms on the east side of campus in the new building. The second and third floors of the renovated building will open immediately after the break. However, the first floor which houses the administration is planned to open at the beginning of May. ![]()
Featuring updated electrical work, cable TV, whiteboards, blinds, and lab areas, these two floors will not have many changes. One major difference, however, is that each classroom will be handicap compliant. (more…)
Security found inadequate

Evidently, the campus has not been secured to its fullest extent.
This statement was proven by an experiment performed last month by the newspaper staff. The students observed many different aspects of the entire campus, including several students walking around aimlessly during class, a lack of vigilant security guards at certain locations, and strikingly, an unlocked gate next to the baseball field. Senior Tree no longer a school landmark

Over the weekend, the senior tree was cut in half and, on Monday, students arrived on campus to discover that it was cut down completely by school officials.
“For safety issues, the administration had the district cut down the rest of the tree,” assistant principal Bill Sterling said.
Some students claimed that there is a slight possibility that another school may have been involved in the vandalism of the campus trademark.
In addition to the vandalism of the tree, explicit comments pertaining to the senior class were found written on the quad stage along with graffiti behind the Students Activities Center and the pool wall on the same day. (more…)
Gay-Straight Alliance makes a statment

Ignorance. Unfairness. Cruelty. These words portray a harsh illusion but according to some students on campus, these are fairly common words that they have experienced and encountered.
As president of the Gay-Straight Alliance club, Andrew Person (’08) wanted to revive the club to let people know that hostility and discrimination towards gays is not right. He admitted that their club has not been getting much attention because “people tend to have a stigma” towards them. (more…)
