War of the Consoles

When it comes to video game consoles these days, there are only three worth mentioning. Within the past two years, Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft have come up with their best products yet: Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft Xbox 360, respectively.
For players who simply want to have fun and do not care about graphics or an extensive online play, Nintendo’s Wii would be the ideal console to purchase. It is an original system, based off of the newest technology with motion-sensitive controllers. When playing a baseball game, the player must swing the “bat”— the controller.
The Nintendo console also has several enticing games, including Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. Fun - filled and less expensive, the Wii costs about $250.
For gamers who wish to have the top graphics and games, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is the right console.
The 360 has state-of-the-art graphics that are sure to please any gamer, and it also has the well-known Halo 3, one of the greatest ends to a trilogy in history.
When asked which console he would rather choose, Arys Dembekjian (’09) selected the Xbox 360. He said that its graphics and game play make it a great investment.
The Xbox 360, being the first of these so-called “next generation systems,” already has a year’s worth of more games than the other two consoles, not to mention it comes equipped with loads of accessories such as headset and different faceplates.
However, the Xbox 360 is probably the worst of the three just because it has been out there for so long, giving console makers the chance of basing their consoles to be better than it. But, if that is what you are looking for, then you can purchase it for $300.
Last, but certainly not least, is Sony’s Playstation 3, the most recently released system of the three. It has almost everything an Xbox 360 has and more. The PS3 is simply a combination of the two systems. In addition to having amazing graphics, it also has motion- sensitive controllers, just like the Wii.
The PS3 is priced from $400 to $500 largely because of its built-in blue ray player that allows discs to be read more precisely.
