Many teens log on to their MySpace several times a day. But, how many log onto HayemYes.com regularly?
Just as Tom is known for designing MySpace, Ibraham Yeghaish (’08) is known for designing hundreds of websites. This hobby of his started at the age of thirteen. Living in Iraq, internet was banned by the government until 2003, which is what ultimately inspired Yeghaish to start his projects.
“We had to go to the college campus to be able to browse the internet on their computers, so I figured a way to edit each page by using Microsoft Notepad to get the codes so I can view it at home and show friends and family,” Yeghaish said.
By doing this he figured out the Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), a WebDesign language which would help him in future projects.
Later on that year, internet was becoming very popular and the government started allowing people to go online from home and even create their own web pages. That is when Yeghaish created his very first website called “ApoMontage.”
Yeghaish designed hundreds of websites because he worked for many WebDesign companies such as Dream Machine Technologies and The WebDesign Firm. From his own HayemYes.com to Hayk Manukyan’s HayasaPictures.com, he developed many popular sites.
“When I came here, I noticed that many people don’t know what is going on,” he said. “They don’t know about Armenian history.”
Inspired by other people’s lack of knowledge in Armenian history, he created HayemYes.com to “inform people a little bit about the Armenian culture,” he said.
He is a member of Armenian Youth Federation, an organization which exists for spreading the Armenian cause.
Not only does he create websites, he also does many graphic designs. He has designed countless posters for documentaries and tours and has also done various business cards and post cards. Yeghaish has also worked with some photographers whose projects involved modeling.
He is currently working with Hollywood director Roger Kupelian who was one of the digital matte artist in all three of the “Lord of the Rings,” “Air Force One,” and “Batman & Robin.”
Yeghaish has his own style of design and believes that one does not have to be an educated art-wise, to become an artist.
“He has his own unique way of expressing things and I think doing those designs is one of the ways he expresses his feelings,” Setrak Azrenkassian (’09) said.
Yeghaish stated that one should do what he or she thinks is perfect, only then will one be surprised at how many people will enjoy your art.
“That’s why I love art,” Yeghaish said. “Everyone has his or her own taste and I always welcome people’s feedback.”
From designing websites all the way to supporting the Armenian cause and charity works, Yeghaish continues to be a versatile member of the society through his involvement in the media world.
