Two of the school’s best baseball players are experiencing the opportunity of a lifetime during this off-season.
Seniors Sako Chapjian and Jason Ochart were lucky enough to be accepted into the So Cal Bombers travel baseball team this fall.  This will be Ochart’s first year with the Bombers and Chapjian’s second year with the team.
Chapjian, who plays both shortstop and pitcher, put up great numbers last season for the baseball team, having batted .349, the fourth highest on the team. He also had six runs batted in (RBI), four extra-base-hits, a .451 on-base-percentage, and a .465 slugging percentage.
“[Being on the Bombers] helps you get noticed by colleges that have good baseball programs,” Chapjian said.  “It proves to colleges and professional teams that you are capable of taking your play to the next level.”
Ochart, who also plays shortstop and pitcher, put up even better numbers last season for the baseball team.  With a batting average of .362, he ranked third on the team.  Along with that, he had seven RBIs, nine extra-base-hits, a .464 on-base-percentage, and a .552 slugging percentage.
“The Bombers needed players and the head coach had heard about me through Sako.  I went to a practice and the coach liked what he saw.  So, I was put on their roster,” Ochart said.
The Bombers Baseball team is a highly renowned program for developing young baseball players.  Both Chapjian and Ochart hope that being a part of the Bombers will help elevate their game to the next level.  The Bombers have also developed numerous college players, and even Major League Baseball prospects, something both players hope to become.
“[Being on a team like the Bombers] is great,” head coach Jim Delzell said.  “Our players only get better by playing other great players from across America.”
