Last year placing sixth in the league just was not good enough for Cross Country.
Having already begun with a victory against Glendale High School on the Sept. 8 Invitational, Boy’s Captain Ray Hajduk is already prognosticating a winning season along with having tangible dreams of competing in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).
“We really do stand a chance this year, unlike last year’s because of the combination of the experienced upperclassmen and the talented underclassmen,” Hajduk(’08) said.
Cross country running is a sport in which teams of runners compete in which is over open or rough terrain faster than other teams. Basically, the first five (top) of each school will be counted and the rest will not.
“Honestly, yes, we do have a really good top five this year and I also agree with Ray, there is no doubt we are certainly within the grasp of competing in CIF both for boys and girls,” Gwen King(’08) said.
