For a substantial duration, the concept of attending a university has been engraved in students’ minds. However, though education proves to be a wise investment for many, it also stifles the creativity of individuals who are passionate about other values aside from education.
In a society that glorifies lawyers and doctors with success stories over artists on curbsides chasing after their dreams, people do seem to place a greater emphasis on the practice of pragmatism over creativity and unconventional ventures. (more…)

Counting on counselors

Nurturing the futures of over 2,400 students, these six dedicated women work out of what could be considered the heart of Hoover, the counseling office.
The school utilizes a unique system in the counseling office involving a “counselor of the day,” where one of the six counselors, in daily rotation, manages general issues. If a matter requires more attention, the student is directed to the domain counselor. (more…)

To elementary school kids, she may be the mean old lady hiding skeletons of past students in her closets. To high school students, she may be their ticket to getting out of their least favorite class.
