Choir sing to Chicago
Tuesday March 27, 2007
By Staff Writer, Lissette Talledo
As spring break approaches, students are planning various activities for that week. The Chamber Choir has already planned out the last three days. The 15 students will arrive at Chicago, Illinois and compete with students from different states for awards and trophies at the Heritage Music Festival.
“Hopefully we have a good chance since we had a good teacher that prepared us,” Chamber Choir member Monica Munoz (’09) said.
However, plans were constantly changed due to the lack of student involvement. Originally, everyone in choir was going to attend, but since not enough students signed up, only Chamber Choir was admitted. They were also going to go to the festival in Colorado, but they were the only choir that signed up.
“Of course we would have won, but there would have been no competition,” Choral Conductor Beth Richey said.
In addition to the festival, the choir will enjoy different sightseeing opportunities such as visiting the Sears Tower and the Navy Pier.
“This trip will be an immense learning experience in which we will be able to showcase our talent and be inspired by the talent of others,” Jesse Foster (’07) said.
