With colorful flags, posters, and other various paraphernalia for students, the College and Career Fair will arrive tomorrow to the Glendale Civic Auditorium for its annual gathering from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The Fair will have numerous representatives from colleges as well as career opportunities from across the nation, accommodating all types of students.
Career counselor Kathleen Frazer said that approximately 130 colleges will be present, including four-year colleges, community colleges, and vocational schools. Occupational representatives will also be available for students who wish to head straight into the work force.
This is a perfect “opportunity” to provide an “insight on jobs” for students who believe “college is not for everyone,” college counselor Rose Samore said.
The College and Career Fair is a chance for students to “take advantage” of the represented schools, Frazer said.
Denise Le (’08), who attended the College and Career Fair last year, hopes to meet “more representatives from different colleges” at this year’s fair.
Both Samore and Frazer believe all students should attend because it is a great chance to meet and become acquainted with admissions advisers.
Samore hopes that freshmen will discover the “world after high school,” sophomores will “see who offers what [regarding] logistics and characteristics” of the colleges in mind, and juniors will be able to “search in earnest” for colleges and careers to “[match] their own personal skills.”
The College and Career Fair has been an information haven regarding universities since Glendale Unified School District high schools decided to hold it in the Glendale Civic Auditorium 12 years ago.
