The new school year began with students stampeding into the counseling office with one goal in mind: to drop an AP class.
Despite their efforts, however, students who wanted to drop an AP class were denied. Those who wished to further discuss their problems were referred to the principal.
Latin students SCRAM to convention

Latin students will gather at the annual Southern California Regional Amici Madness (SCRAM) to share the culture, history, and the language of the ancient Romans. It is an event many Latin students look forward to every year.
This year, students will meet on November 5 at Glendale High School to share their common interest for Latin.
CIF strikes thundersticks

The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) has prohibited the use of thundersticks, inflatable spirit sticks used as promotional items, at sporting events as of this school year. Audience members are asked not to bring any of these items to avoid problems associated with noisemakers.

ILT focuses on academic development

A new team of teachers and administrators have formed the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) whose primary goal is to develop a central focus of the school which other academic factors will orbit around.

100,000 seniors fail CAHSEE

According to a recent report in the Los Angles Times, 100,000 California high school seniors failed the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), a figure equivalent to 20 percent of the state’s twelfth graders. Come June, those students will not receive a diploma.

Headphones may hinder hearing

Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” booms out of car stereos so loudly, it can be heard halfway around the boulevard. The Dolby sound preview in theaters is enough to make ears ring. The snare played by Drum Corps can be heard all the way from the cafeteria at Toll. Worst, and most insidious of all, with the advent of iPods and other mp3 listening devices, Simple Plan’s “Welcome to My Life” blares noisily enough from headphones that other students in the halls can hear.
