As the pressures of society accumulate, the stress level of all adolescents increases, drowning youths in a state of despair and looming suicide.
“Leisure is gone…gone only to be replaced by modern standards full of anxiety, stress, and depression.” Such a statement was made 25 years ago by writer George Eliot about leisure being gone, yet it still pertains to today and the many stresses that lead to suicide.

Water has always been a source of rejuvenation for mankind. A man straying through the desert hopes to come across the oasis to slake his parched throat. During basketball practice, players pray to God that the coach calls for a water break. But good ol’ H2O might turn out to be a formula for demise rather than salvation.

In Brave New World, Huxley predicts that what we love the most will ruin us. People love money, need money, crave money, and will do anything for money. There is nothing more thrilling than to win vast amounts of money by sitting down in a casino and doing absolutely nothing. While this would be an acceptable environment for an adult, it is absolutely not okay for students in high school to participate in such games.
