The quality of the bathrooms on this campus is nothing short of a spacious, multipurpose outhouse, except outhouses are better equipped.

If any area on this campus needs to be renovated, (that is, if Measure K would suffice) it is the boys and girls restrooms located throughout the school. To mention a few aspects that need improving are mirrors for the boys bathroom and tampon vendors in the girls bathroom.

Not that the danger of having glass mirrors in the boys bathroom is to be ignored because tension may lead to obvious, hazardous use of the glass, but at least some sort of reflective device should be installed so that one may complete the freshening up needed. Even a metal plaque glued onto the wall would be sufficient. If grooming is forbidden from the classrooms, as stated in the school code, then at least designate a location to do so.

Another desired addition, although a bit controversial, are tampon vending machines, which would be placed in the girls bathrooms. Benefits of having this apparatus would be that it would not only provide a great service for the female community on campus, but can potentially create a great fund for school events, which would undoubtedly be greatly appreciated.

It is not a matter of convenience but an issue of sanitation. The bathrooms require constant care and update in supplies, such as paper towels, liquid soap, and other necessities. By disallowing an improvement in one of the most essential parts of the school, the bathrooms, one neglects crucial points that reflect the atmosphere.

Before Open House on campus, classroom floors were waxed, windows washed, and desks straightened, but the bathrooms were most likely locked and abandoned. Why? For several reasons.

One might be because of the fear that someone would deteriorate its condition beyond its already deteriorated state. This is not illogical considering that the current state of bathrooms is due to the abuse of students. Graffiti, vandalism, etc. caused the administration to reprimand the entire student body for the sins of the few. However, change is in need.

Just like any other part of the school, bathrooms require an upgrade in condition. Maybe even more.
